The performance is dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the founding of Jochi Khan’s Ulus and the 780th anniversary of the kuy “Aksak Kulan”.
Jochi Khan, son of the great Kagan Genghis Khan, dies during a hunt. No one dares to bring this dark news to the Kagan. The legendary commander and kuyshi Ketbuka, through the sacred treasure of our nation — born of the boundless steppe, the ancient chronicles, and the most precious instrument of our people, the dombra — manages to convey the tragic message of Jochi’s death. Thus, through Ketbuka’s ingenuity, the kuy “The Lame Kulan” is born, which saves the messenger from certain death. This is the true power of the kuy.
